The clearance bags of bananas at Kwiktrip is a deal I can't resist. One grocery bag full of tastey ripe bananas for $1. Uh yeah, I'll take that deal. So, I just pureed like 40 bananas. Now i need to figure out what to do with all this luscious, lavender-brown goop.
1. Banana Ice Cream My sister recently bequeathed upon me her neglected cuisinart ice cream maker. (In limited edition aqua which also matches my original 50s steel kitchen cabinets.) So into the frozen bowl went: 4-5 laddles of banana mush, a teaspoon of vanilla bean paste, and half a packet of sf ff vanilla pudding mix from aldi to help it along. It's currently working away on the counter. I dont have measurements on this, just eyeballed it, apparently the only rule is to keep your ice cream substance a 1/2" away from the top for expansion.
3. Banana Bread I loosely follow the Joy of Cooking Recipe. Except that I triple it and make it in a 9x13 aluminum cake pan. Then i cut it into 3 loaves, wrap and freeze! Mainly because i have one loaf pan and zero patience.
After that, if i have any flour or banana left I'll have to figure something out! Come, Mister tally man, tally me banana Susi
